Many modern RC airplanes come with a high degree of prefabrication, and are sometimes made out of foam or fiberglass. These planes can usually be assembled very quickly. Yet there's something to be said about building one's own airplane from balsa wood. The structure can be stronger, lighter, and more durable. Plus, the finish can be completely customized.
